Born in Nasrala, Hoshiarpur, India on 25 October 1954. Educated at Sain Dass School, Jalandhar, 1961-71; DAV College, Jalandhar, 1971-75; Punjab agricultural University, Ludhiana 1975-1977, 1993-96; B.Sc. 1975; M.Sc. 1977; Ph.D. 1996.
Principal Scientist, 1998 to date and Head, 2005 to date Central Potato Research Institute, Shimla.
