  Dr. K. L. Chadha

Former Deputy Director General (Horticulture), ICAR, New Delhi.

Dr. Chadha, an eminent horticulturist, contributed immensely in development of a network of R&D infrastructure through establishment/upgradation of five Central Institutes and nine National Research Centres in horticulture in India. He was instrumental in creation of separate Directorates of Horticulture in different states. Dr. Chadha promoted research on development of F1 hybrids in vegetables, production of high quality planting materials, Hi-Tech horticulture, drip irrigation etc. He won several awards for his contribution to horticulture/agriculture science, which include Dr. B. P. Pal Memorial Award (2005), Borlaug Award (1984), HSI-Shivashakti Life Time Achievement Award (2007) and Om Prakash Bhasin Award (1998). Dr. Chadha authoured over 35 books, 130 research papers and 175 popular articles. ‘Advances in Horticulture’ in 13 volumes is one of his monumental publication.
