Dr Gupta specializes in Genetics and Plant Breeding. He has done cytogenetic studies in pulses and cereal crops. His pioneering works on molecular markers and gene mapping are acclaimed worldwide. He has developed one Mung bean variety “MUM-2”. To his credit, he has more than 300 research papers in Indian and foreign journals of repute. Dr Gupta has also written and edited many books. He has been a Fallow of various scientific bodies. He is presently Hony Emeritus Professor, both at CCS University, Meerut, and SVBP University of Agriculture & Technology, Modipuram (Meerut).
