Dr. Srivastava, basically a plant pathologist, also specialized in seed potato production. He studied in detail the cereal rusts, wart and golden nematodes of potato for initiation and appraisal of plant quarantines in India. He developed sun drying and other household techniques of utilization of potatoes. He is also credited with development of critical methods of control of brown spot disease of rice. Dr. Srivastava was one of the first elected fellow of Indian Phyto-pathological Society (1964). He had published over 80 research papers, technical and popular articles and book chapters.
