Dr. Nayar, a plant breeder, worked on induced mutations and cytogenetics in potato. His major contribution was towards the research, guidance and management of potato, coconut, arecanut, oil palm, cashew and spices including tree species. He has a vast experience of research and research guidance on several annual crops including rice, all tuber crops, legumes, cucurbits and sesame-and plantation crops, mainly oil palms, spices, cashew and cocoa. He brought out the package of practices for potato production in different potato growing zones of India. Dr. Nayar edited 6 books and published about 175 research papers.
